New British Cinema Quarterly (NBCQ) is a programme of films which screen across the UK, starting with our fifteen partner venues where a Q&A with director, cast member or technician gives audiences and people interested in film making the opportunity to meet those who have succeeded in doing that.
The first year of the programme saw some excellent results with NO GREATER LOVE going on to screen in seventy cinemas and SKELETONS winning the best new British feature award (The MichaelPowell Award) at Edinburgh International Film Festival and being nominated for a BAFTA. These films along with both the playful and engaging 1234 and BIFA nominated BRILLIANTLOVE were included in the 2010 Annual DVD box set alongside a magazine, produced by Little White Lies.
NBCQ continues with 4 new films in 2011 and expansion plans for additional cinemas and alternative events.

“The admirable New British Cinema Quarterly initiative pioneered by Soda Pictures
to generate a following for smaller British movies… a great idea”
Jason Solomons, The Observer
“It is through the hard work of the New British Cinema Quarterly that has allowed these
highly original movies to be seen by an audience outside of the festival circuit.”
The Quietus
“What hope then for home-grown talent? Well, it’s certainly not easy, as Giles Borg’s charming comic tale 1234 aptly demonstrates:
his film premiered at London Film Festival – and subsequently screened in the ‘pick of the fest’. Yet it is only now that he is finally
getting to see it screen to wider audiences, courtesy of Soda Pictures’ initiative, New British Cinema Quarterly”
Eye For Film
“Fresh and exciting, the film is part of new touring programme entitled New British Cinema Quarterly, which will see
Soda Pictures bring a number of new films to cinemas over the coming year. As always, we urge you to support both
your local indie cinema and new British cinema by going to see the film and having a fantastic time”
